NAHP, Inc.
Recruitment Campaign at NAHJ Convention
Washington, D.C.--(HISPANIC
PR WIRE)--June 21, 2006--The National Association for Hispanic
Publications (NAHP, Inc.) will be recruiting new members at the
Annual Convention of the National Association of Hispanics Journalists
(NAHJ) in Fort Lauderdale on June 16 and 17. In addition, the
NAHP will be promoting job opportunities offered by the different
NAHP member publications.
‘We are pursuing
an aggressive recruitment campaign,” said NAHP’s director
of recruiting, Oscar Reyes. Reyes has targeted 58 different Hispanic
publications that operate in the Florida region. The NAHP expects
to recruit about a dozen new members from the convention.
New members will immediately
receive one of two benefits sponsored by Wal-Mart and Continental
Airlines. New members may get a free plane ticket, courtesy of
Continental Airlines, to travel to one of the three NAHP main
annual events: the National Convention, the Media Summit or the
Advertising Summit. New members who pay their membership also
have the option of choosing to receive a one year free membership
for 2007 with the purchase of a one year membership for 2006,
courtesy of Wal-Mart.
Other benefits of being
an NAHP member include:
-- Access to Media
Related Research: NAHP provides state of the art research to its
members regarding consumer and advertising trends. This information
is critical for publications who wish to stay in the competitive
edge. The NAHP is currently working with Synovate, a market research
giant that operates in 50 countries researching consumer insights
and marketing solutions.
-- Access to Professional
Seminars: The Association provides seminars that allow members
to improve their publication in key areas such as editorial, advertising,
production and circulation.
-- Discounts in News
Services: The latest example of these types of discounts is happening
right now with the World Cup. NAHP members received a special
discounted price from the Spanish news service EFE.
-- Networking Opportunities:
The NAHP events give its members the opportunity to network and
exchange opinions and ideas about the printing industry.
-- Other Benefits include
traveling discounts and inclusion in the NAHP Media Directory
which many of the fortune 500 companies and advertising agencies
take into account to direct their sales.
To become a member,
the NAHP requires each publication to have been in circulation
for at least one year, a license to operate as a business, involvement
in the community and pay an annual fee. “We require that
our members prove themselves capable of subsisting and that they
demonstrate commitment to the community that they serve,”
said Reyes. The membership fee varies depending on the publication’s
circulation.
The fee is very affordable
if compared to the benefits that membership provides. For example,
a weekly publication with a circulation under 25, 000 copies per
week would pay a fee of $300 dollars per year where as the annual
fee for the largest daily newspaper is only $1,600 dollars per
year.
The NAHP currently
has 145 active members and there are 30 new member applications
under review. “We are getting a very positive response from
the different publications across the nation,” said Reyes.
