Wins Prestigious Award from the National Association of Hispanic
Publications
Washington, DC--April
18, 2006--The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP),
the preeminent organization representing more than 350 Hispanic
publications in the United States, conducted the José Martí
Publishing Awards (named the awards after the renowned journalist,
Cuban hero, poet and statesman) to recognize excellence in publishing.
The awards were presented at the NAHP’s Annual Conference
in Las Vegas, NV, on March 29th thru April 1st.
VEGA Directorio en
Español received the award for “Outstanding Yellow
Pages”. This is the fifth year in a row that VEGA Directorio
en Español has been recognized as the best Spanish language
Yellow Page directory in the country. VEGA Directorio en Español
publishes 3 titles in the Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland
area serving a growing Hispanic population and providing its customers
with an effective way to reach this important group of consumers.
Judging the entries
this year was a panel of individuals well-known to the world of
Hispanic print such as Chiqui Cartagena, Managing Director, Multicultural
Communications, Meredith Integrated Marketing; Gloria Constanza,
Partner of CMS LLC; Terry Mireles, Director of Marketing for Vigo
Remittance Corp.; Angel Linares-Lugo, Managing Editor of People
en Español; Nelson Fernandez, Vice President of APCO Worldwide;
Michael Gomez, Vice President of Customer Marketing, MasterCard
International; and Mindy Figueroa, Project Director, Maya and
Miguel, Scholastic Entertainment. The judging took place February
15th in New York at the offices of Meredith Integrated Marketing.
